Move with the Moon: How I Sync My Cycle, Pilates and Energy
There’s something magical about this time of year. The nights grow darker, the moon feels brighter, and honestly its pulingl somehow stronger. Maybe it’s the Halloween energy in the air, but I’ve always felt that the moon holds more power than we give it credit for. It affects the tides, shapes our sleep, and, if you ask me, it may even influence women’s menstrual cycles. Some scientific reports suggest this connection might actually be real, though research is still ongoing.
For years, I’ve noticed that my energy, mood, and strength in Pilates seem to rise and fall in time with the moon. My period almost always lands near the new moon, and my most energetic, social days tend to arrive around the full one. At first, I thought it was coincidence - but now I see it as a pattern worth paying attention to.
Both the lunar and menstrual cycles are around 29 days, and historically, women have been said that the cycle starts with the new moon and that they ovulate with the full one. Whether that’s science or intuition, tuning into that rhythm has helped me find more balance - in training, recovery, and life.
During the new moon, when my cycle begins, I slow down doing gentle Pilates, stretching, and rest. As the moon builds, my energy rises, and by the full moon, I’m like flying through dynamic workouts and reformer sessions. When the moon wanes, I ease back into mindfulness and flow.
I’ve learned that real strength isn’t about pushing harder - it’s about working with your body, not against it.
I hope sharing my experience helps you harness the moon’s rhythm too - to move, rest, and glow with its energy. 🌕💫
